Job Title: Secretariat for the Heat Network Industry Council (HeatNIC)

Location: Hybrid

Job Type: Full-time

Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and highly organized individual to fill the role of Secretariat for the Heat Network Industry Council. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the UKs Net-Zero targets, advancing heat networks to help decarbonise towns and cities. The successful candidate will provide a secretariat function for the Ministerial Board, chair the Delivery group, and provide resource to manage the project groups. In addition, this role would monitor actions between meetings to ensure progress and provide other administrative and management functions to the Council as required.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Policy and Advocacy Support:
  • Research and monitor developments in heat network policies, regulations, and best practices.
  • Support advocacy efforts by drafting position statements, policy briefs, and submissions to relevant authorities.
  • Assist in the coordination of advocacy campaigns and outreach activities to promote the organization’s objectives.
  1. Communication Management:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the organization, responding to inquiries and directing communications to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provide regular written updates to all HeatNIC members on the work programme to ensure that all are informed of progress.
  • Support the delivery of the HeatNIC Communications group through managing the HeatNIC LinkedIn account, updating content on the HeatNIC website and supporting event planning.
  1. Meeting and Event Coordination:
  • Organize and schedule Board and Delivery meetings, and workshops, including venue selection, agenda development, and logistical arrangements.
  • Prepare meeting materials, presentations, and minutes, and ensure timely distribution to participants.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to facilitate participation in events and collaborative initiatives.
  • Design and management of an annual day long strategy session each year.
  1. Membership Support:
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of members by providing information and support as needed.
  • Process membership applications, payments, and renewals, and maintain membership records.
  • Coordinate member engagement activities such as networking events, webinars, and working groups.
  1. Administrative Support:
  • Manage the organization’s administrative tasks including filing, scheduling, and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases related to members, projects, meetings and activities.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and accommodations for staff and stakeholders as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the low carbon energy sector in particular heat networks policy, regulated energy markets, consumer protection, economic regulation, and investment needs.
  • Proven experience in administrative support, preferably providing Secretariat functions to a nonprofit organization or industry association.
  • Consistent track record in project management with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with central government.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and online collaboration tools.
