Description  

The role of Managing Director of RetrofitWorks is unique in the construction industry. The successful applicant will be simultaneously be:

  • Leading an organisation of circa £4m annual turnover with significant potential for growth.
  • Leading an innovative commercial model (member-owned cooperative) that is recognised as a leading light in driving down the carbon dioxide emissions in our most challenging area of climate mitigation: the existing housing stock.
  • Listening to Members and other industry stakeholders to ensure that RetrofitWorks is solving barriers to the retrofitting of the UK housing stock.
  • A very visible person in the industry, advocating for change, working with stakeholders across public and private sector and providing solutions to all with the potential to be very influential in our fight for climate justice.

General Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Updating the Board with business specific KPIs and financial metrics on a regular basis. Board meetings are currently every two months.
  2. Maintaining the budget projections to push forward confidently and accurately.
  3. Take responsibility for maintaining a safe and healthy workplace and following safe practices.
  4. Be plugged into the wider sector as a whole in order to understand opportunities and solve sectoral problems where possible.
  5. Respond to communication from customers, subcontractors and representatives of relevant organisations, resolving all queries in a manner that builds customer loyalty and company reputation.
  6. Provide support and assistance to other members of the team and colleagues in other departments
  7. Lead regular departmental and other meetings as appropriate to ensure all existing contracts, tender opportunities and membership issues are managed to a high standard. 
  8. Manage the Finance and Administration department to ensure that invoices and payments are processed promptly and efficiently – a key measure of Member satisfaction.
  9. Identify and participate in training and personal development activities in order to keep abreast of knowledge required to meet the requirements of the role
  10. Attend Company Events (which may be away from the workplace)
