Role Profile

The Institute of Zoology, the research arm of the Zoological Society of London, affiliated to University College London, invites applications for a Part-time Administrator.  ZSL is seeking an organised and flexible administrator who will provide support for the delivery of academic courses and alumni knowledge exchange networks as part of the Wildlife Health Bridge. Your key duties will be to assist the tutors in preparation and delivery of learning materials for the students, maintaining  our large alumni database and communicating with our alumni. You will have contact with both academics, alumni and students in your supporting role.

Please note: The post is a part-time, 3 day per week contract and the post-holder will be based at the Institute of Zoology in London

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Main responsibilities will include:

  • compilation of learning materials
  • communication with alumni via newsletters and bulletins
  • maintainance of databases on  alumni careers and publications
  • supporting student facilities at ZSL
  • updating course related websites and databases
  • facilitation of feedback to and from students
  • assisting with organisation of events
  • creation of meeting minutes and dissemination of action points
  • assisting with any other tasks as may be required.

Please note: The post is a part-time, 3 day per week contract and the post-holder will be based at the Institute of Zoology in London. 

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will:

  • have excellent organizational skills and experience and/or knowledge of using MS office packages or similar
  • be educated to undergraduate degree level in a relevant subject (such as Biology, Zoology, Education) or equivalent qualification or equivalent level of work experience in a related field.
  • have the ability to work unsupervised using your own initiative.
  • be able to develop good working relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • have excellent written / oral communication skills and attention to detail.
  • a pro-active, flexible approach to your work
