Description

We are looking for a lawyer for this exciting and challenging role to lead, develop and deliver ClientEarth’s Wildlife Conservation Project. This involves working on and supervising others to use legal tools and arguments to develop and promote coherent, effective and transparent frameworks of rules to protect wildlife, as well as to ensure better implementation and enforcement of conservation legislation in the EU.

The role will be based in ClientEarth’s London office, managing a team with members in ClientEarth’s other offices. Ideally the role will commence in April/May 2016.

About you

The successful candidate will be a lawyer who is ready to lead the Wildlife Conservation Project by contributing strategic legal thinking, advocacy and creative problem solving in a public interest law setting and by leading a small team. You are adept at thoroughly analysing complex legal issues. You will have a strong understanding of the principles of EU law, and good knowledge of EU biodiversity and conservation related policy and legislation, particularly the Birds and Habitats Directives. More generally, you will be highly organised, an excellent communicator and have the skills to build and manage good relationships with external partners, as well as manage a small team. You are also committed to environmental issues, with an interest in conservation.
