Description  

The Assistant Ecologist will work alongside colleagues within the Consultancy, liaise with Section Heads and external partners to build on the significant opportunities for the newly created KWT Consultancy Services Ltd.

You will support the Managing Director, Principal Ecologist and Project Manager, helping to win contracts & develop the business building on KWT’s brand.  You will also support the small consultancy team raising the competencies and diversity of delivery by undertaking opportunities to upskill and deliver new areas of work.

You will support the Principal Ecologist to engage with external parties such as industry, infrastructure project contractors, developers and corporates, a portion of undertaking terrestrial and potentially freshwater and marine delivery if within the applicant’s competency.

This position will ensure that Consultancy work is mission consistent with the Trust by working closely with other Trust sections at times to ensure that the team’s work meshes with that of the wider KWT Strategy and business plan. You will at times oversee the work of  Trust officers with support from Consultancy colleagues, ensuring that contracts are delivered to a high standard, on time and to budget. 

You will maintain and develop relationships with regional and national Wildlife Trust Consultancies helping colleagues build a regional consultancy model and supporting a national consultancy framework liaising on the development and delivery of national work.

You will find out through working with the Principal Ecologist how to take an approach based on natural capital with net gain always the driver and help develop mission consistent opportunities for contracts to support the Trust in areas such as  development, farming, flooding and drought, soil and carbon. 

This is an exciting role within KWT Consultancy Services Ltd to help develop a new team, upskill and further connect the Trust and wider partnership ambitions to deliver net biodiversity gain and a nature recovery network for Kent, thereby furthering the aims & objectives of KWT.
