Our network of volunteer Sea Champions are our local ambassadors in communities across the UK, providing vital support for us to promote our campaigns, conservation work, membership and fundraising initiatives, encouraging active participation in protecting – and enjoying – our seas, shores and wildlife.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual who will manage and develop Scotland’s network of volunteer Sea Champions, promoting wider public awareness of MCS and proactively supporting our conservation goals, as well as increasing our membership base and fundraising activities.

You will have ample opportunity to demonstrate your strong organisational skills when delivering events and will be comfortable delivering information/training sessions to a variety of audiences.  You will be able to develop resources that inspire audiences to engage with our messages both online and face-to-face at events.  A committed interest in communicating marine conservation will enthuse and motivate people to support our aims.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of recruiting and working with volunteers
  • Comfortable talking about membership recruitment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills that inspire and engage
  • Track record of organising successful events/activities on time and to budget
  • Comfortable explaining marine issues and concepts to a variety of audiences in innovative ways
  • The role is home-based so you will be independently motivated, and have easy access to the region – you will need access to your own transport
  • Able to manage the setting up/packing down of event equipment (e.g. gazebos, boxes of leaflets)

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) has been the voice for our seas for 30 years; championing sustainable seafood, clean seas and beaches and protection for marine wildlife.
