Description

Friendly and upbeat, you’ll love this opportunity to provide top quality experiences to visitors at a world-class arboretum.

The mission of Forestry Commission England is to care for the nation’s woodlands. This Visitor Services Assistant role is at Westonbirt, the National Arboretum, which is one of the finest collections of temperate trees in the world. Our mission at the arboretum is ‘To connect people with trees to improve the quality of life.’ Every year, more than half-a-million visitors enjoy our tree collection, excellent visitor facilities, and programme of vibrant events.

Joining a highly professional team with a commitment to giving every customer a great experience, you will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities. As one of the first people a visitor sees at the admissions point, you’ll be there to do much more than just handle sales and issue tickets. Put simply, your role is to help visitors get the best from their time at the arboretum. So we’ll also expect you to answer their questions, help with the maintenance of our facilities, and play a part in coordinating and delivering events and activities.

To join us, you’ll need either a customer service qualification or demonstrable experience of delivering excellent service to all kinds of customers. We’ll need you to have a good head for figures, and to be a great communicator in English. You must be willing and able to work outdoors, all year round, in all weathers. If you don’t have a qualification in First Aid at Work, you should be prepared to be trained and then take on first aid responsibilities.

Please note this is a part time, rostered role, with annualised hours. You’ll be required to work our busiest days, which include weekends, public holidays and school holidays.

In return for your commitment, you will enjoy an excellent package of Civil Service benefits including pension.
