Visitor Engagement Area Manager (South)
This is a permanent position, 37.5 hours per week (flexible working considered) based in South Essex
Essex Wildlife Trust is the county’s leading conservation charity. It has more than 35,800 members, manages and protects over 8,400 acres of land on 87 nature reserves and 2 nature parks and runs 11 visitor centres. The aim of Essex Wildlife Trust is to Protect Wildlife for the Future and for the People of Essex. It is supported financially by members, local businesses and grant making organisations. It is one of the largest of the 47 county wildlife trusts that work together throughout the British Isles as The Wildlife Trusts.
The successful applicant will work 37.5 hours per week, across (most weeks) Monday – Friday. Flexibility with these hours can be considered. This role may require working both, evenings and/or weekends on occasion, with notice. This would be approximately once a month. There will also be a requirement to participate in the duty on call rota and this is likely to be once a month on weekends.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing, supporting and motivating geographically spread visitor teams
- Ensuring the Trust’s messages are well communicated
- Improving income through innovative projects
- Increasing visitor numbers to the Trust’s centres
- Ensuring centres deliver an exciting education and engagement programme, to connect adults and communities with nature
- Ensuring we provide great opportunities for visitors to observe wildlife spectacles
- Ensuring visitors receive a great welcome
Are you an enthusiastic and engaging individual with a passion for great customer service, an ability to manage dispersed and varied teams and a desire to encourage a varied and exciting visitor programme? Do you work continually to bring the best out in people and services?
If the answer is yes then this could be the role for you.
