Based within the Natural Environment Research Council, the UKRI Senior Environmental Sustainability Manager will play a key role within the UKRI Sustainability Team in the implementation of UKRI’s new Environmental Sustainability Strategy. You will support and enable environmental projects and manage a high-quality environmental sustainability assurance and performance analysis and reporting function to support delivery and tracking of impact.

You will champion the importance of data and evidence-based decision making through strong networks with our Research Councils, using performance data to inspire and support them to improve the environmental sustainability of the whole organisation in line with the strategy, plans and targets.

You will help to maintain compliance with relevant environmental legal and other requirements though effective communication, data collection, analysis and reporting. You will be responsible for identifying, mitigating and managing risks and opportunities associated with environmental sustainability reporting.

You will need:

  • Degree level qualification or comparable experience in an environmental science or sustainability field. 
  • Leadership experience in a sustainability role.
  • Excellent analytical and data reporting skills with experience of managing environmental sustainability analysis and reporting systems (and associated contracts) to drive improvement.
  • Demonstrable experience in building networks to ensure high quality data reporting and to identify and share best practice.
