Based within the Natural Environment Research Council, the UKRI Senior Carbon Manager will play a key role within the UKRI Sustainability Team in the implementation of the UKRI Environmental Sustainability Strategy. 

You will champion the importance of data and evidence-based decision making through strong networks with our Research Councils. You will inspire and support the organisation’s 2040 net-zero commitment through the management of energy and carbon emissions data reporting and analytics, providing capital investment project support, investment management and sharing of best practice.

You will work with internal colleagues and external stakeholders to identify and support innovative approaches to sustain UKRI’s world-class science and innovation whilst reducing carbon emissions. You will champion the importance of data and evidence-based decision making and help to build new ways to internally finance carbon reduction.

You will need:

  • Degree level qualification or comparable experience in a carbon, energy or environmental science field. 
  • Technical qualification(s) relevant to this role e.g. CIBSE, RIBA, Energy Institute, IMechE carbon reduction qualifications. 
  • Leadership experience in an energy management and/or carbon reduction role.
  • Excellent analytical and data reporting skills with experience of managing energy and carbon analysis and reporting systems to drive improvement.
