The MSC has developed an international certification and ecolabelling programme designed to contribute to sustainability of global fisheries resources. The programme is designed to be accessible to all sustainably managed fisheries regardless of size, scale, location or type. The MSC works to develop tools and initiatives to enhance the accessibility of the programme to pre-MSC fisheries.

Information on the role

This exciting internship opportunity is within the NEA (North East Atlantic) Outreach Team, who establish and maintain relationships with supply chain clients of the Marine Stewardship Council including UK and North East Atlantic fisheries, retail, suppliers, restaurants, food outlets and educational institutions.

The successful candidate will assist with a communications research project, reviewing the Fish and Kids engagement strategy and assessing the use of current teaching and engagement resources. From this, the candidate will help to develop ideas for the online engagement of teachers, children and parents through the Fish and Kids website, and assist in the creation of quality online and offline curriculum linked resources.

The successful candidate will also support the team in logistical administrative tasks such as mail outs and will have the opportunity to develop events based skills whilst assisting with the preparation for any key engagement events.

The intern will benefit from undertaking tasks linked to the activities listed below, with guidance provided by the UK Commercial Manager and UK Commercial Officer. There may be additional activities in which the intern could be involved with, depending on the skills and interests of the individual concerned and there being a sufficiently qualified and experienced member of the MSC’s staff available for the intern to shadow:
