Description

Kew is the world’s leading botanic gardens, at the forefront of plant and fungal science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction.

We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued and conserved – because our lives depend on them.

We use the power of our science and the rich diversity of our gardens and collections to provide knowledge, inspiration and understanding of why plants and fungi matter to everyone.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Project Officer to join the UK National Tree Seed Project, based at Wakehurst in West Sussex.

Working with collaborators such as the Wildlife Trusts and the Woodland Trust you will ensure the delivery of tree seed collecting activities as agreed in partnership workplans. You will also liaise closely with the Project Fieldwork Officer in order to ensure Kew fieldwork compliments and supports the delivery of partners workplans.

The post includes a strong element of data management as you will be responsible for tracking and reporting the overall progress of the collecting programme against project targets, as well as ensuring the appropriate management of collections data gathered throughout the project.

Working with the UK Conservation Partnerships Co-ordinator, you may also assist in the development of future UK projects based on tree seed conservation. You will also help with outreach activities such as press work, social media and participation in both internal and external events.

Salary will be £24,650 - £27,000 per annum pro rata, depending on skills and experience. Benefits include competitive annual leave allowance, excellent pension, a flexible benefits scheme, as well as a great working environment.
