This role combines writing policy, which sets the strategic direction of the council’s traffic and transport team, with project management of behaviour change and other non-highway schemes. We are seeking candidates with over two years’ experience in transport planning, or related fields if able to demonstrate a good level of relevant knowledge. Candidates should have project management experience and be able to work quickly and efficiently across a portfolio of projects with minimal supervision.
Projects currently delivered by the transport planning and policy team are focused on supporting schools to achieve modal shift and gain TfL accreditation for their school travel plans, and making cycling accessible to all. Policy work involves writing the new 3 year local implementation plan in line with the new Mayors’ transport priorities and developing new public transport links which serve areas of growth in the borough; along the Great West Corridor in Brentford and in the Heathrow Opportunity Area in the west of the borough.
We offer clear career progression linked to achievement of targets, excellent training opportunities, mentoring on the Transport Planning Society professional development scheme and first class flexible working opportunities.
