Description  
The Threatened Flora Ecologist is responsible for reducing the risk of extinction of threatened flora species within the Region by increasing the protection and improving management of key populations and their habitat on private and public land through: the collection and analysis of information; provision of advice; engagement of key stakeholders; development of policies, procedures and guidelines; and by facilitating the delivery of on-ground threat abatement activities

Special Conditions

  • Will be required to participate in fire management or associated duties, including emergency operations such as bush fire suppression activities, commensurate with their fitness and training levels. This may require some out of hours work including participation in an ‘on call’ roster.
  • A current class “C” drivers licence and willingness to drive is essential
  • Some out of hours work may be required
  • Intrastate travel including overnight absences may be required
  • Located at Cleland Conservation Park but may be required to relocate to other Regional Offices
  • May be required to work alone in a field environment

Essential Qualifications
An appropriate Bachelor Degree in Ecology, Conservation Biology or equivalent is essential.

Contract
Full time (37.5 hours per week), for up to 5 years.

Remuneration
$79,552 - $88,420 per annum, adjusted according to part time hours work

  5. What experience do you have working with landholders and/or community groups and what constitutes successful engagement to you?
  6. What is your understanding of the major threats and impediments to threatened flora recovery?
  7. Can you describe a successful species monitoring or management project that you had a significant role in developing or implementing, including detail on what made it successful?
