The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. Working in partnership with the research community, policy makers, industry and society, CEH undertakes cutting edge research to deliver world class solutions to the most complex environmental challenges facing humankind.

About the role

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed person to join the growing CEH Business Development team based at the headquarters of CEH at Wallingford.  Investment in CEH’s business development activities is currently underway to provide greater material support on research tender preparation to improve the quality and outcomes of CEH proposals and enable improved marketing capability, maintaining existing, and securing new, customer relationships. We are now seeking an excellent administrator to support this ongoing initiative.

Main Duties:

  • support the Tender Support Team Leader and Tender Support Executive with bid administration and record keeping
  • support Tender leads, Business Development Managers and Principal Investigators by collating information from a range of stakeholders into grant submissions, and ensuring bid compliance
  • organisation of tender documentation, maintaining comprehensive records for the bid management process, including maintaining databases and relevant company information, CVs, information sheets and web portals.

Skills Required - About you

  • You will be educated to degree level in an appropriate subject or equivalent professional experience
  • you will be able to work independently and manages your time effectively, including a changing workload of long and short terms tasks
  • you will be able to demonstrate effective IT skills, being proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint etc.)
  • you will have the ability to prepare and proof read to produce high quality written material
  • you will have excellent organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail, with an efficient approach to the delivery of services
  • you will have experience of effectively gathering information from internal and external stakeholders alike
  • previous administrative experience in a professional services environment within a sales/business development team would be desirable.
