Description  

JNCC will be adopting a more flexible approach to working options and, once we are able to return to working in our office locations, our people will have more flexibility about where they choose to work. For this role the expectation is that the successful candidate will be expected to work from our office base for 8 days a month as a minimum.  We can provide more details at the interview and offer stages.

Hours of work:                     Full-time

Normal minimum hours of attendance for the post are 36 hours per week over a 5-day period, Monday to Friday.

Flexi time is available. This post may also be suitable for job share.

Annual Leave:

JNCCs strategy is to move more of its systems to the cloud and utilise fully JNCCs Office 365 tenant to configure, manage and secure its environment.(JNCC hold E5 licences therefore there are many services that can be utilised to streamline security and assist to improve the network services delivered by the IT in JNCC) To this end we are looking for a technical support analyst with a good working knowledge of Office 365 and cloud-based infrastructure. The postholder will be expected to grow in skills and knowledge to take the lead in realising the cloud first strategy for corporate systems. The post holder will be supported to grow their skills in these areas.

You will work as part of a highly skilled team to develop our use of Microsoft 365 / Office 365, Azure, Active Directory and Windows Server technologies as well as looking to improve IT service capability to meet business needs. Further you’ll be working with and delivering requests coming from the information management team when it comes to securing, classifying, retaining and disposing of our digital data assets.

The postholder will also take responsibility in assisting the IT manager in managing the help desk function and resource planning when delivering Infrastructure projects.

We are looking at someone to start this journey with us and to grow and develop into this role, although we require some knowledge and skills in the fields above, your greatest assets will be enthusiasm for technology, willingness to apply quickly what you learn, working well under pressure assuming responsibility for delivery of some infrastructure projects and a drive to progress in this role as it develops.

Job Description:

Post Duties

  • Work within a highly skilled IT Team to support for our Microsoft365 tenancy and Windows based IT infrastructure
  • Maintenance of existing servers/network and future development as JNCC grows and needs change.
  • Able to work independently and identify the needs of the JNCC and work to address those needs.
  • Maintenance of Hybrid-Cloud deployment and future development
  • Investigate and deploy solutions within Office 365 tenant.
  • Investigate solutions for hosting corporate systems within a cloud-based environment.
  • Work closely with Information management team to leverage functions that would implement and maintain information management governance policies.
  • Keeping abreast of the latest cloud infrastructure technology and advise how developments in these areas can meet JNCC needs in realising our cloud first strategy.
  • Assist the IT Manager in managing the help desk function.
  • With the IT Manager ensuring IT resources are available for the daily running of the IT Services and delivery of Infrastructure related projects

Technical

To be a successful candidate you will have:

  • Experience of administering and managing an Office 365 tenant environment, ideally running hybrid systems. E.g. AADS, Hybrid exchange services
  • An understanding in the deployment of Multi Factor Authentication (MFA), Intune, retention policy and identify management within Office 365.
  • Understanding to foundation level of cloud-based computing, including some exposure to both AWS and MS Azure
  • Knowledge of the information management lifecycle
  • Practical experience of creating and managing SharePoint online and MS Teams site
  • Good understanding of Windows 2012R2, Windows 2016/19 and Windows 10 domain environment. Some Linux skills would be a bonus

Experience (Responsibilities)

To be a successful candidate you will have:

  • Knowledge of server operating systems, with emphasis on Microsoft Windows, including domain services, Active Directory, system administration, and Windows Remote Desktop Services.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve issues independently.
