JNCC is looking for two experienced people to jointly lead a team of marine vertebrate specialists and their programmes of work.  The team provides scientific advice to government, industry and other stakeholders on seabirds, cetaceans, fish and fisheries.  Based at our waterfront location of Inverdee House, at the entrance to Aberdeen Harbour, JNCC employs ca. 40 staff working at the interface between science and its implementation in government policy, the duties of public bodies and the needs of marine industries.  JNCC also works collaboratively with country conservation bodies and other stakeholders.

We are looking for people who can provide clear and visible leadership to a team of specialists with a focus on quality science, technical delivery and advice.  Applicants should have a higher degree or the equivalent level of qualification or experience plus extensive additional experience of policy, practice and the management of people.  You should have proven ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and effective manner, including the ability to discuss technical issues with both specialists and non-specialists.

You will be part of the JNCC senior management team and must be willing to be flexible and constructive in all aspects of your work, including engaging with organisational changes, the content of your work programme and the development of internal and external relations.
