We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join us with an understanding of current sustainable travel solutions and a knowledge and passion for developing and delivering our transport network. Experience of the promotion of active and sustainable travel, including through travel plans is desirable.
This is a key time for North Somerset Council, having recently declared a climate emergency. Sustainable transport solutions are critical to how we will address carbon emissions. This varied role will range from engagement work, developing walking, cycling and road safety solutions, marketing information and supporting the delivery of infrastructure.
In addition to undertaking a range of educational and promotional initiatives within schools, businesses, and the wider community, you will be providing sustainable travel advice and comments for new developments at both planning and occupation phases. The role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as we look to achieve safe and sustainable travel behavioural change within North Somerset. Skills in several of these areas will be important: engagement, project management, policy, marketing, planning and/or funding bids. A degree in a relevant discipline such as business studies, geography, planning, engineering, or a subject directly transferable is desirable.
The post will mainly be working from home initially, with a hybrid work style, with some travel to Clevedon, Weston-Super-Mare, Bristol and other West of England offices. This role is a permanent position with career grade increments and progression.
