In return for spending time away from home, you will experience a wide variety of landscapes, culture and cuisine across the British Isles and maybe overseas. You will experience first-hand, best practice, meet and learn from inspirational people and be able to advise many more on how to implement practical and cost effective improvements to their businesses.

As a key part of the team you will be responsible for supporting, advising and developing relationships with existing and potential members to ensure that the tourism businesses committed to sustainability receive an excellent introduction to Green Tourism and the resultant benefits from being a member. Also on an on-going basis they get the highest quality of service and technical advice from their Green Tourism membership. You will be planning, arranging and undertaking up to 15 Green Tourism assessments a week and producing a full and comprehensive technical report providing sustainability advice to businesses.

The person appointed to this role, will be a passionate environmentalist and able to display a commitment to the objectives of Green Tourism, while being capable to delivering 5 star customer experience to existing and future members. Person appointed will have a the following skills set;

• Be comfortable working with both the SME market and large PLC organizations
• Be confident in understanding business challenges and considerate when providing advice
• Be able to display a sound knowledge of the UK/International Tourism market and the characteristics of the sector.
• Be prepared to contribute to the ongoing business development of Green Tourism and their members,
• Be committed to attracting and retaining members through diligent account and customer care management
• Be committed to staying current in trends, forecasts and legislation to ensure that GT can display a current view of the issues facing tourism businesses.

Essential:
• A personal commitment, a passion & good knowledge of environmental and sustainability issues
• Good communication skills, especially verbal skills & ability to explain technical issues simply
• A full driving license and be prepared to travel away from home for up to 2 weeks every month, occasionally longer and sometimes weekend work

Desirable:
• A related degree / higher education
• Experience in auditing against recognised standards (environmental, sustainability or quality)
• Good practical knowledge of energy efficiency, waste management and environmental good practise
• Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
• An interest in and knowledge of the hospitality industry

The company will provide / cover all the resources & equipment necessary for the on-site assessments including: iPhone, laptop, hire car, sat nav, accommodation, subsistence and other travel costs.
