Keep Scotland Beautiful (KSB) is the independent charity which campaigns, acts and educates on a range of local, national and global environmental issues which affect people’s quality of life. It is committed to making Scotland clean, green and more sustainable. KSB enables action on sustainable development, by helping organisations and communities reduce their carbon emissions and environmental impact so that Scotland plays its part in tackling climate change. The Sustainable Scotland Network is one element of this work.

The Sustainable Scotland Network (SSN) is a highly respected sustainable development initiative, working with, and providing support to, professionals in the public sector.  SSN’s current work is focused on climate change, providing a wide range of communications, training, resources and events for public sector professionals. SSN is supported by the Scottish Government.

Reporting to the SSN Coordinator, the Sustainability & Climate Change Officer will play a key role in developing and implementing SSN’s research, analysis and capacity building services.  This will involve researching and analysing climate change policy, practice and reports relevant to public sector organisations. It will also involve organising events, producing reports, responding to government consultations and supporting the development of policy positions.

Applications are sought from candidates who feel that they have the necessary experience and qualifications to undertake this role.  The ideal candidate will have strong research and analysis skills, be able to provide evidence of research and policy development on sustainable development and climate change, and demonstrate the ability to analyse and present complex data to a range of audiences. Experience of supporting policy development and professional capacity building services, as well organising and facilitating events and research projects is essential. Knowledge and understanding of public sector organisations, or other large complex organisations, and an ability to work with a range of stakeholders are central to the delivery of the post’s duties.

For further information and an informal discussion about the role please contact Kate Airlie, SSN Coordinator on 01786 471333.

Keep Scotland Beautiful is willing to consider applications for this work to be undertaken by contractors on a consultancy basis.  Please enquire for further details.
