 SHARP (Smallholder Acceleration and REDD+ Programme) is a multistakeholder partnership that works with the private sector to support sustainable smallholder development and minimise deforestation. Proforest provides the Secretariat for the SHARP Partnership, based at our office in Oxford, UK. 

We're looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic summer intern to help the SHARP Partnership with its communications and fundraising between July and September 2015. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a friendly, international team and gain exposure to a wide range of international development and environmental issues. 

Brief Role Description for SHARP Summer Intern

Purpose:

Support SHARP Secretariat on communications and fundraising

  • Preparation of materials to support the presentation and dissemination of lessons learned from field testing and development of RSS and HCV for Smallholders

  • Preparation of materials for sharing case studies on successful models and activities related to smallholder support in moving towards more responsible production

  • Desk research for grant proposals

  • Production of SHARP newsletter

  • Updating and developing SHARP website

  • Support on other forms of outreach to SHARP partners and stakeholders

  • Draft summaries of various SHARP baseline studies to improve their accessibility to users of the SHARP website

Person spec:

Preferable background

  • Environmental policy or geography/social sciences in context of international development

  • The voluntary, not-for-profit sector

or

  • Communications

Good understanding of natural sciences would be desirable.

Excellent command of English, with clear concise writing style and preferably some experience of reviewing and copy editing the work of others.

Language skills in Spanish or Bahasa would be a welcome bonus.

Experience of basic website management desirable but not essential.
