The Sustainable Markets Group at IIED is looking for a highly skilled individual to lead its work in the operation and governance of markets in the food system (from agriculture to trade and consumption) and in the informal economy in the global South.
The post-holder will also play a leading role on other research projects, including research on agricultural sector governance (with the Sustainable Food Lab), the role of small-scale farmers and SMEs in food and nutrition security (European Commission-funded SALSA project), and informality in Africa-China trade (ACIRT).
Together with IIED colleagues, partners and donors this role will contribute to current programmes of work such as the 'Sustainable Diets for All' programme.
To succeed in this role you must have a postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, with demonstrable research, field and stakeholder engagement experience that can be applied to food systems, especially relating to smallholder production and/or trade and consumption in low-income communities and sustainable development.
