The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation promoting sustainable development and linking local priorities to global challenges.

This role is based in the Climate Change Group's global climate law, policy and governance team. The primary function of the post is to contribute to the development of IIED's work on legal research on climate change to strengthen the voices of the least developed and other developing countries in global policymaking processes and national implementation, in close collaboration with other members of the global climate law, policy and governance team.

To succeed in this role you must have a postgraduate qualification in law, international relations or other related area. Your knowledge will include international environmental law, climate change law, national legislations and climate litigation.

You will have substantial professional experience in the UNFCCC negotiating process; and extensive experience in facilitating law and policy processes that enable the voices of those typically excluded to be heard. You will be fluent in English, have the ability to convey clear, complex messages; and your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will inspire engagement among diverse partners.
