Description

The post is currently homeworking but will be based at the university campus in Penryn.

This is an exciting time to join Cool Earth, a non-profit organisation that works alongside a network of communities to halt rainforest destruction and its role in climate change.

Cool Earth is scaling up its ambitions to find the best methods for supporting local communities to protect their forest globally. We are aiming to expand our portfolio of rainforest partnerships around the world significantly by 2025, supported by local NGOs to work with local people to facilitate long-term forest protection. We are doing this to not only scale up our own impact but to also focus our efforts on learning from multiple partnerships on what works best (and what doesn’t) to support local people to protect their forest. Our aim is to share our findings widely with others for greater global impact. To do this we require an experienced project manager who is capable of inspiring and uniting teams, to help lead the growth of our partnerships and learning.

This is a newly created position and a key role within our growing organisation.

As part of the senior team, you will report directly to the Deputy Director (Head of Programmes & Forest Impacts) and will play an instrumental role in identifying emerging opportunities for programme development, increasing the effectiveness of the project management and evaluation of our global rainforest partnerships.

You will be an exceptional manager who will be a pleasure to deal with for every member of the Cool Earth network. You will be highly qualified in your field with substantial project management experience and have a keen eye for identifying ways to improve effectiveness and learning. Experience of building systems and processes is a must and building good relationships with international partners and local NGOs would put you at a distinct advantage.

In collaboration with the Deputy Director, you will lead our dedicated and talented Programmes team to ensure we have efficient and useful data flow and are carrying out as effective project management as possible given the remote, rural, dynamic and community based nature of our work. You will also be line managing the Forest Impacts team to draw out as many lessons and evaluation as we can from our activities.

You will be empathetic and calm and have a collegiate style of management which fosters very high standards. You will have a balanced, systematic and analytical mind able to keep sight of the bigger picture for managing local partnerships. You will enjoy the challenge of bringing pieces of the puzzle together in helping to build improved methods on supporting communities to protect their rainforests.

This is a permanent role based at the Cool Earth Headquarters in Penryn, Cornwall and may include national travel and occasional international travel.

Closing date: 30 October 2020
