Species | Permanent, full-time, Technical/Professional Management

£37,000 to £43,000 depending on skills and experience

The main purpose of this role is to develop, fundraise for and implement innovative projects that drive forward UNEP-WCMC’s ambitions to secure a future for wildlife.

UNEP-WCMC’s Species Programme contributes to global efforts to conserve biodiversity by providing authoritative information to decision-makers implementing species-related conventions and agreements, including CITES[1], CMS, and the EU Timber Regulation/FLEGT. This role will focus on developing new opportunities to further support these international initiatives in line with UNEP-WCMC’s strategic priorities to support sustainable wildlife management and to ensure that international wildlife and timber trade is legal and sustainable.

The Senior Programme Officer will have technical expertise in this field, with the ability to lead both the development and delivery of new areas of work. The postholder will be a strong communicator that is adept at building and maintaining successful working relationships with a variety of collaborators. The role is global in remit and requires engagement with the global wildlife science-policy community.

This is a senior role within the Species Programme that will contribute to strategic planning and also to the team’s day-to-day management through mentoring and supporting junior staff. This is a significant career opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering conservation science and information to decision makers.

If you are looking for a rewarding and challenging post where you can showcase your excellent leadership and fundraising skills, while contributing to global efforts to safeguard biodiversity, we want to hear from you.

Please apply by forwarding your CV, the WCMC application form and short covering letter using the link below by 27th January 2019. Please note that this is not a UN post.
