Description  

We are looking for a motivated, technically competent and skilled Senior Programme Officer to work in the Marine Programme. The main purpose of this role is to lead the development and delivery of the ocean and coastal area-based planning and management ambitions within in the ocean priorities of the UNEP-WCMC Strategic Plan. The successful candidate should have a strong track record of technical excellence in area-based planning and management in the marine environment (such as marine spatial planning, marine protected area management, or integrated coastal management), project fundraising, leadership and delivery, staff management and development, and engagement with the international marine conservation arena. 

This is a senior role within the Marine Programme at an important time in the team’s re-orientation to focus on the ocean priorities within the UNEP-WCMC Strategic Plan. The post-holder will therefore contribute substantially to the team’s day-to-day management, mentoring and support for junior staff, and decisions about overall direction and strategic priorities.
