What’s your role in Society?

We are currently looking for a talented and motivated Senior Geo-Environmental Consultant to join our Land Quality North Team within the Geo-Environmental Advisory Business Unit.  

Within this role you will be required to undertake site and office based work supporting UK wide delivery of brownfield regeneration schemes for a range of public and private sector clients.

What does the role involve? 

  • Providing consultancy services in relation to geo-environmental assessments by undertaking both office and site based work.
  • Preparing desk study, site investigation, risk assessment and validation reports.
  • Site supervision during site investigations, remediation, demolition and construction programmes including liaison with internal/external clients and sub-contractors.
  • Undertaking design delivery tasks as required to the programme and level of quality as defined by the line manager/team leader.
  • Acting as project manager on small or medium sized projects and progressing towards managing large projects.
  • Developing and enhancing existing skills in geo-environmental assessments.
  • Developing and enhancing existing skills in qualitative and quantitative risk assessment.
  • Leading/assisting in the production of proposals/bids.
  • Developing new and enhancing existing, internal and external client relationships. 
  • Being competent in the procurement and management of subcontractors (including preparation of specifications and industry standard forms of contract ICC/NEC).
  • Preparing drawings and well written clear, accurate and well presented reports. 
  • Acting as mentor to less experienced colleagues.

To be successful in this role you’ll possess:

  • A degree, preferably to MSc level, in a relevant environmental science and either have or be working towards a relevant professional qualification.
  • An excellent knowledge of best practice and legislation in the brownfield redevelopment industry.
  • A good track record of successful project delivery.
  • Experience of managing deliverables on land regeneration frameworks ie gas infrastructure/utility clients is desirable.
  • Excellent IT skills with advanced skills in MS Office.
  • Good problem solving/contingency planning skills with ability to find quick, innovative and practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with others to form strong positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and contractors.
  •  Full clean driving licence.
