Description

Arcus is a multi-disciplinary environmental and planning consultancy delivering high quality projects in all major sectors and at all stages of project lifecycle, from feasibility to operational monitoring.  Our long established but still growing ecology team are looking for a dynamic Senior Ecologist to join the team in York to work on projects throughout the UK and facilitate the continued growth and diversification of the business within the renewable energy, property and infrastructure sectors.

The successful candidate will ideally have at least one year of experience as a Senior Ecologist in a consultancy role, a Natural England Class 2 bat survey licence, and at least Associate membership of CIEEM.  The role offers a competitive salary package, plus benefits, excellent training and development opportunities and the chance to work on a selection of exciting projects across a range of sectors.

The candidate should have a demonstrable track record of managing and undertaking ecological services at all scales and across sectors and be comfortable dealing directly with clients and third parties.  Business development experience is essential as the candidate will be expected to help grow the business’ portfolio of services by enhancing the Ecology team’s profile and developing business with new clients.  As a multi-disciplinary consultancy, experience of working with other environmental disciplines and planners is desirable.  The successful candidate will work within an established team of ecologists in the UK and be responsible for working with staff of all grades across teams, mentoring junior staff and managing subcontractors.

In order to maintain our highly respected professional service we expect excellent attention to detail and communication skills. The candidate will also be responsible for proposals and tendering, so good commercial and financial awareness are essential.
