The Born Free Foundation, the internationally renowned animal welfare and wildlife conservation organisation, is seeking to recruit a Network Facilitator to work with some of its major project partners based in or around Nagpur or Mumbai, India.
The Satpuda Landscape Tiger Programme (SLTP) is a network of like-minded organisations and conservationists committed to the conservation of tigers and tiger habitat in Central India. The Satpuda forests of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra offer perhaps the best hope for India's remaining 2,200 wild tigers. Comprising several Tiger Reserves connected by forest corridors, this is the largest viable block of tiger habitat in India. SLTP, developed by the Born Free Foundation and the Wildlife Conservation Research Unit at the University of Oxford, brings together Indian conservationists working in seven Tiger Reserves across this very important tiger range. Born Free has been supporting the field conservation activities of all SLTP partners for a decade.
SLTP is looking for an excellent candidate to fill this position remotely, working part-time from home, and involving periodic travel to meet with partners in the field. The successful candidate will help with communication between all partners in India and the UK, drafting of funding proposals, compilation of reports, generating news stories for media, and assisting with partners and donors with travel logistics.
This is a part-time position of approximately 20 to 30 hours per week. Remuneration is commensurate with qualifications and previous experience; salary and expenses will be paid against invoicing by international transfer.
The ideal candidate will:
be an enthusiastic and committed conservationist
have good organisational skills
be a graduate with a degree in environmental sciences or a related field
have previous experience working in environmental education and/or public relations
be fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi, both spoken and written
have experience writing proposals, progress reports and media pieces
be computer literate, preferably with some publishing experience
