The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. About the role

We offer a prestigious Research Associate training programme to develop skilled UK/EU scientists for the future of European environmental research. For the 3 year duration of this training programme, we are offering an exciting opportunity to undergo training in, and work on, the design, construction, installation and maintenance of field instrumentation data logging systems and a variety of environmental sensors. You will support the full range of CEH science. This post is a key role in the small, but dynamic and responsive team of engineers and scientists in the Land Surface Flux Measurement group in the attractive surroundings of our Wallingford site.

About you

You will have a degree (2:1 or better) or equivalent qualification is essential. It is likely that you will have an environmental science or environmental physics numerate science degree. You must be able to demonstrate an aptitude for instrumentation and data logging, with basic understanding of electronics with evidence of simple circuit construction. Meticulous attention to detail is required, with dependable engineering discipline to follow procedures and maintain documentation – knowledge of ISO9001 is desirable You must have a full driving licence as you will be required to work outdoors often alone at remote field sites and sometimes overseas, with work at height (full training given).
