Born Free, the internationally renowned animal welfare and wildlife conservation organisation, is seeking to recruit a Receptionist, based at our Head Office in Horsham, West Sussex.
Reporting to the Operations Manager and working as part of a busy and dynamic small Administration team, this is a full time role and an exciting opportunity to work in one of the fastest growing international wildlife charities, with a recognised and high profile media presence. Born Free is dedicated to stop animal suffering and to conserve animals in the wild; it has a wide portfolio of projects dealing with some of the worlds most endangered species.
We are looking for a successful and motivated individual who has relevant experience, as well as a passion for wildlife and belief in the Born Free ethos. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential as is an exemplary telephone manner. The successful candidate will be a good and enthusiastic team player with well-developed people skills, and the ability to prioritise and organise whilst working under pressure and to deadlines.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Answering all incoming telephone calls in a professional and friendly manner, screening and directing calls as necessary or taking and relaying messages if the intended recipient is unavailable
- Providing general information regarding the activities of the Foundation to callers and respond to emails from the public
- Greeting all visitors to Born Free, ensuring that they sign the visitor’s book
- Ensuring knowledge of staff movements in and out of organization and where individuals/colleagues are on a day by day basis
- Providing general administrative and clerical support
- Maintaining a satisfactory working knowledge of Raiser’s Edge (our CRM system) and assist with updating and correcting supporter details
- Preparing correspondence, documents and packages for dispatch via Royal Mail or whichever postal courier service is used
- Receiving and sort mail and deliveries
- Scheduling appointments and manage the bookings of the meeting rooms, and arrange meetings as required on behalf of colleagues, and organising catering/refreshments as necessary
- Monitoring and maintain office equipment including (but not limited to) all printers, cameras and pool computer equipment
- Controlling stationary inventory
- Being prepared to take on any additional, reasonable tasks that are requested by the management
Experience:
- A good level of education including (but not exclusive to) GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good IT skills
- Personable and able to work alone or as part of a team
- Able to meet strict time deadlines
- Organised and able to liaise with individuals at all levels of an organisation including (but not exclusive to) board level, CEO, Director and Management
