Reaseheath College is one of the premier land-based College located in South Cheshire with an enviable reputation for quality and partnerships with industry.  The College has a beautiful rural setting situated amongst 330 hectares of farms, parklands, lake, woodland and sports facilities.

The College’s Reaseheath Agricultural Development Academy (RADA) is looking for an energetic individual in this newly created role to help manage water quality.

Reaseheath has partnered with United Utilities to provide its customers with some of the purest water in the country. This catchment management scheme aims to prevent the contamination of raw water at source, rather than providing treatment processes, and to bring wider benefits to nature at the same time. What is good for water is good for the environment and farmers and we need an enthusiastic and motivated individual to realise all the benefits that the new scheme offers.

The role will see you working in the Llangollen canal drinking Water Safeguard Zone (DWSgZ) and Cheshire Boreholes (DWSgZ) As the Catchment Advisor you will have day-to-day contact with farmers and landowners, supporting and advising them on resource protection, pesticide use and nutrient management planning to minimise diffuse pollution of watercourses. You will also manage community events, workshops, community meetings, farmers meetings, students and other local stakeholder groups and administer United Utilities’ interventions grant scheme to deliver practical works on the ground that deliver water quality and biodiversity improvements. You will additionally collect data from farms and use this data and your knowledge to help the farmers understand how they could reduce pollution and save money.

The role is a great opportunity for you to use your agricultural knowledge to help solve a real problem facing the water industry, whilst promoting and engaging our farming community in sustainable agriculture. For this post you are likely to have had some hands-on farming experience, supported by relevant agricultural qualifications (such as FACTS and BASIS), or be willing to undertake the relevant training.

You will have a degree or equivalent in Agricultural/Water/Environmental Science and proven experience of agronomy or agricultural/land management background.
