Description  

As active travel rises up the local agenda, Hertfordshire County Council has recently adopted a new Local Transport Plan prioritising investment in non-motorised transport.  Our service is uniquely positioned to deliver on this agenda, managing 3000km of public rights of way and working in close partnership with many parks and greenspace colleagues in other authorities.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to take up a new position in our countryside management team focussed on identification of a strategic network of off road routes for future investment.

About you:

*An excellent communicator

*Proactive, able to work independently and in partnership to develop projects

*Positive and pragmatic approach to problem solving

*A full current driving licence is essential

About us:

We work in partnership with landowners and communities to develop projects that enhance the environment for people and wildlife, manage and make best use of our access network and provide opportunities for informal recreation.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identification of  a strategic network of off road travel opportunities for immediate investment
  • Prioritisation of routes where a significant impact can be achieved quickly
  • Scale-appropriate feasibility work to establish detailed specifications and costings to the point of being “spade ready”
  • Development of a pipeline of projects  for which further work or greater investment is needed and support future delivery
  • To engage users and promote opportunities for increased use to target audiences.
