Description

We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled and enthusiastic individual keen to make a real difference for nature recovery in South Devon and leave a positive legacy for our natural heritage and communities. During this project development phase you will work with colleagues and partners to trial interventions and develop detailed plans on time and to budget for the delivery of Life on the Edge project outcomes. You will be the lead on developing and submitting an inspirational Round Two National Lottery Heritage Fund application to secure the project’s £4m delivery phase.

This is a rare opportunity to work with the South Devon AONB Team, Buglife and a wider project partnership, at this pivotal time when nature recovery is firmly in the spotlight and real solutions are needed right now to reverse the fortunes of some of the UKs rarest and threatened invertebrates, including the UK’s rarest bee and coastal grassland habitats.

Are you enthusiastic about wildflower rich coastal environments, threatened invertebrates, climate resilient coastal land management, able to investigate, plan and develop new ideas, inspire, and meaningfully engage with communities and businesses, have vision and drive to respond positively to change and shape a brighter future?

These unique roles will build upon evidence and action to develop, communicate, and implement a pioneering species and habitat recovery programme. You will help communities and the environment respond to accelerating habitat and species loss. The project area is of exceptional landscape value, highly designated and includes Special Areas of Conservation, a National Nature Reserve, Sites of Special Scientific Interest and forms an important part of the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, South Devon Heritage Coast and South West Coast Path National Trail.

South Devon is one of the longest designated AONBs in the UK with spectacular coastline, estuaries, countryside and rural settlements. Now is your opportunity to make a real difference within this unique, diverse and treasured landscape.

For further information on the project see https://www.southdevonaonb.org.uk/projects/life-on-the-edge/  and for an informal discussion about the Project Development Officer role, please contact Roger English, South Devon AONB Manager on 01803 229331.

Interviews are anticipated to be held via Teams remote video link on 23rd May 2022.
