About the job

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised individual who is motivated by their passion for the environment for this role of Project Coordinator Apprentice within our Waste Services team!

As the Project Coordinator Apprentice, you will be responsible for identifying, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating projects that will improve methods of working and aid the team to minimise the waste that we collect and maximise recycling in the borough.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we are modernising our services and working towards our target of recycling at least 50% of our collected waste by 2025. Your work will assist in shaping the strategy which will help us to reach our goal and make a real difference to our environment.

You will use your enthusiasm and excellent communication skills to inspire positive behaviour change across a wide variety of stakeholders including residents, businesses and colleagues.

You will support the team with administrative duties to ensure that day to day operations continue to run efficiently.

This position is based at Harlington Road Depot, but some travel throughout the borough will be required. You will use your own initiative when working alone on-site visits but will also be capable of working well as part of a team.

About the person

Previous experience of working in a fast-paced environment would be advantageous. The role will suit applicants with an understanding of the environmental impact of poor waste management and a motivation to make positive changes.

You will be working with a range of contacts, such as residents, partners, internal employees of all levels, local businesses and the general public, so it is essential that you have excellent communication skills, to allow you to develop relationships. You will also be responsible for identifying and suggesting improvements to current ways of working, in order to deliver a more efficient and effective service.

The role will involve reporting and analysing data to support projects and as such strong IT skills are required.

You must be motivated to deliver results and will be expected to take ownership of your personal development, as well as supporting the development of the Waste & Recycling team. We strive to ensure that we continuously improve our service, and you will play an essential part in supporting this.

You will work mainly during office hours however we are looking for somebody who can work flexible hours where required with advance notice (such as early mornings, evenings and weekends). The role is varied, and has a range of challenges, but you will be able to make a real difference to our residents, and truly support London Borough of Hillingdon in our aim to put our residents first.
