Description

The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation. We promote sustainable development to improve livelihoods and protect the environments on which these livelihoods are built. We specialise in linking local priorities to global challenges. IIED is based in London and works in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Pacific, with some of the world’s most vulnerable people. We work with them to strengthen their voice in the decision-making arenas that affect them - from village councils to international conventions.

This role will be situated in the Climate Change Group (CCG), providing overall managerial support to the development and smooth running of the Public Policy and Drylands Team and partner organisations within the programme. Working with public sector actors (governments, bilateral and multilateral partners and development finance institutions), to design and test innovative solutions for public and private investment in equitable and climate resilient development. This includes the design and delivery of politically astute policy, institutional and financial frameworks that enable national and local level actors (governments, enterprises and households) to scale-up investment in climate resilient initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you must have a relevant graduate degree (or equivalent experience) along with excellent strategic and management skills. You have high quality problem-solving skills and have proven solid experience working with a diverse range of stakeholders from different backgrounds and cultures. You will be as comfortable working with international institutes, policy-makers and civil society organisations as you will with internal contacts. The ideal candidate will be a clear and effective communicator both verbally and in written form and as such will be well versed in producing a range of communications and marketing materials for print and/or digital audiences.

This is a great opportunity for someone that has initiative, a can-do attitude, is influential in building relationships, a good strategic thinker and enjoys exploring new ideas.

For further information about the requirements of the role please download the job description.

Deadline for applications:  27th November 2019
