  • Expertise in related disciplines such as ecological processes, biodiversity and climate change plus in depth understanding of economics and other relevant social sciences gained through past involvement in, or leadership of, cross-disciplinary projects
  • Evidence of strategic thinking that will enable you to contribute to CEH’s scientific objectives and promote CEH as a world class Centre of Excellence
  • A track record in producing innovative ideas and winning major research proposals in the UK, Europe and possibly worldwide, so that you can raise future funding
  • The ability to lead, mentor and inspire staff to support you and deliver our scientific aims
  • An aptitude for taking opportunities forward and dealing with the challenges of organisational change
  • Proven ability to manage large multi-national and cross-disciplinary projects, including associated budget management
  • Strong communication and influencing skills to support engagement with funding bodies, such as government departments and the European Commission
  • The ability to present and discuss findings with non-specialists to effect stakeholder engagement
  • A willingness to travel within the UK, Europe and worldwide
  • A PhD in environmental/natural/social science

In addition to a competitive salary, NERC offer a public sector pension scheme, 30 days’ annual leave and 10½ days’ public and privilege holiday per annum. NERC has an equal opportunities policy and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
