Description

We are seeking a full-time Post-doctoral Scientist to undertake the main analytical tasks associated with a project aiming to use the Living Planet Index (LPI) and Global Forest Watch (GFW) databases to investigate global trends in forest species, and relate these to changing forest cover.

This is a pioneering piece of research that builds on existing global analyses using the LPI, GFW and complementary datasets/approaches, and will have considerable strategic and policy impact. The researcher will contribute to the enhancement of the LPI database, use the database to analyse trends in forest vertebrates and other forest species, and explore the relationships of these trends with changes in forest cover and configuration.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in a relevant natural science field, with a strong emphasis on analytical and quantitative skills.  They will have extensive experience in the statistical analysis of large spatial datasets, demonstrated by having undertaken significant research at the global scale and with a proven record of academic performance. Skills in written communication, self-organisation, team working and engagement with stakeholders are also important.
