Description

We are looking for an Education Officer to fill a full time 1 year fixed-term post during the development phase of ‘Pollinating the Peak’ - an ambitious natural heritage project focusing on the Peak District’s wild pollinators, especially the iconic Bilberry bumblebee, landscapes and communities and individuals needed to protect them.

Your role will be to consult and engage with communities, schools, colleges, universities and other interested groups to inform the aspects of Pollinating the Peak focusing on learning about bees in an engaging, proactive and innovative way.

You will also lead on the development of Strand 3 - Buzzing schools, and in particular the Polli:lab initiative. Developing a curriculum based education programme on bees and pollination in conjunction with teachers from Peak District schools will be a key part of the role. You will also work with the Project Development Manager, CEO, fundraising consultant and other staff on the production of BBCT’s Stage Two application to the Heritage Lottery Fund.

You will be self-motivated and enthusiastic, with excellent communication skills. You will be up to date and familiar with school curriculum and have had recent involvement in school groups, cluster, local authority or regional initiatives and related developments. Recent successful classroom, school or advisory/consultant experience would be useful. You are comfortable interacting with all levels of the community to build networks. You will be able to use your initiative to solve problems and effectively prioritise your workload.

You must be willing to travel throughout the project area (Derbyshire and the Peak District) and have access to your own vehicle.

Please refer to the job description and person specification for more details of the role.

This is a full time, fixed term position which will primarily be based from home (hot desk options can also be considered).
