The Trades Union Congress (TUC) exists to make the working world a better place for everyone. We bring together more than 5.5 million working people who make up our 48 member unions. We support unions to grow and thrive, and we stand up for everyone who works for a living. Join us.

The Rights, International, Social and Economics Department sits at the heart of the TUC.

The team plays a key role in our work to achieve a better deal for workers, in the UK and around the world. We work with trade unions to provide expertise in employment rights, build international solidarity, campaign for an economy that delivers decent work and living wages, and help develop social policy that can ensure that all workers have a better standard of living.

We’re looking for a policy officer to lead our policy work on industrial and climate policy, ensuring that working people have a strong voice in the lead up to the international climate talks next year, and taking forward our commitment to ensure a just transition for workers as we meet the challenge of climate change.

What Experience, Skills, Knowledge and understanding do you need?

  • You’ll be experienced in developing policy in a complex area
  • You’ll be skilled in developing consensus with a wide range of stakeholders
  • You’ll be passionate about the trade union movement’s role in delivering better industrial policy and a just transition for working people.

If this is you, then take a look at our job description and person specification.

We welcome applications from any candidate but are particularly keen to receive applications from black and minority ethnic (BME) candidates, who are underrepresented at this grade in the TUC. If you are BME and interested in the post, we invite you to join an online briefing for BME applicants at 4.30 pm on Tuesday 22 September. If you’d like to attend the briefing session, please email jobs@tuc.org.uk by 3 pm on Friday 18th September 2020.

You don’t need to attend the briefing session to apply.
