Join the Environment Agency and help us protect our environment while preserving it for future generations. Green Growth & Delivery is a dynamic and innovative team, driving positive environmental change on major projects in North London and surrounding areas.

We are looking for a highly motivated and positive individual to work as part of a team that engages with local planning authorities and developers to secure the best possible environmental outcomes. The work will focus on major development and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will lead on our engagement with the relevant applications, including Development Consent Order applications.

Your work will involve:
• Influencing customers and building relationships internally and externally on site-specific and strategic matters
• Leading and participating in local and national projects to achieve integrated solutions that progress effective change and improvement
• Training and coaching others to equip them with the technical knowledge and skills
• Supporting the Programme Managers, utilising strong leadership and project management skills

Where you will work 

The Green Growth and Delivery team provides a dedicated full-time resource with a greater ability to focus wholly on major development and infrastructure projects. The team consists of specialist staff across a number of disciplines who contribute their expertise and knowledge to the projects.

Our Welwyn Garden City base location has a hybrid model allowing individuals to work either at home or at our office (a minimum number of days in the office per week will be agreed with your line manager and will be dependent on business needs and reviewed periodically).

What do I need?

  • Significant experience working with major and/or complex planning applications is essential.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of Town and Country Planning Act and Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project legislation and processes.
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences, with excellent customer service skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • A flexible, positive approach and a proven ability to achieve results.
  • Able to work in a high workload, high pressure environment, employing project management skills to aid delivery.
  • Experience of training and/or coaching others.
  • An awareness and understanding of the current government and political landscape.
