Operations Officer – West

Ref: 1001-402

Starting Salary: £35,039 pro rata

Contract: Permanent, 17.5 hours per week

Location: Based in Argyll with significant activity around the Mid Argyll and Kintyre area; the Oban and Lochgilphead offices are available

This post will help NatureScot deliver its policies and priorities (including Scotland’s response to the climate emergency and biodiversity loss) in Argyll.  The post holder will tackle a diverse portfolio of key tasks relating to both coastal/marine and land/freshwater management.  This will frequently involve the engagement and development of partnerships with others while managing a small team of staff.

The key tasks of this post will require a high level of partnership working and capacity building: development control casework, including significant renewable energy, aquaculture and forestry casework; protected areas casework (including Site Condition Monitoring, consents, management agreements/delivering favourable conditions, etc); leading on deer management initiatives and AECS case officer work; invasive non-native species projects, including rhododendron; and, exploring where NatureScot can best contribute to the Green Recovery, including through climate change and biodiversity initiatives.
