Description

Are you ready for this exciting opportunity to lead the work of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)?

Set in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside, Nidderdale AONB is a truly special place.  With a rich and varied landscape, an amazing variety of habitats and species, it is also the home and workplace of about 16,000 people.

As the successful candidate you will lead our dedicated and passionate AONB team to make the most of the special qualities the AONB has to offer.  You will have strong leadership qualities, be able to inspire and motivate others and have a proven track record of delivery within the conservation or wider environmental sector.

As the champion of the AONB, you will have substantial experience in partnership working, able to build and maintain strong links with delivery partners, funding bodies and stakeholders, essential for maintaining the AONB’s reputation as a dynamic and innovative landscape delivery body. You will also have significant experience of budget management, maximising funding opportunities and corporate governance.

You will be joining the AONB at and exciting time when the role of protected landscapes including AONBs is being actively considered by Government following publication of the Defra-commissioned review led by Julian Glover. The AONB Manager will have the opportunity to fashion a new future for the designated area.

Based at the AONB’s office in Pateley Bridge, benefits of working here include flexible and agile working, options to buy additional leave, leisure facility discounts and the option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme.
