Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an environmental specialist to play a key role improving environmental outcomes as part of the New Forest Team at Natural England.

Natural England is the Government’s adviser for the natural environment in England. Natural England’s purpose is to ensure that the natural environment is conserved, enhanced and managed for the benefit of present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development.

As New Forest Lead Adviser, you will have a geographical focus on the New Forest and the surrounding local planning authorities. You will be proactively engaged in responding to development management and development planning consultations, providing advice on planning pre-applications, consents and assents, achieving the best possible outcomes for Natural England’s objectives.

To be successful you will need to build and maintain successful working partnerships with stakeholders to secure wider environmental outcomes, using your extensive environmental knowledge to form strategic outcome focussed approaches and provide clear, pragmatic evidence-based advice to partners, customers and colleagues on a wide range of sustainable development and terrestrial biodiversity issues.

You will need to understand how an ecosystem functions and recognise and interpret the environmental features within it, as well as demonstrate an understanding of current environmental issues and relate these to your work. You will also need to be able to collaborate, negotiate and influence in a well-informed way to achieve pragmatic outcomes for Natural England.

In return for your efforts, we can offer the right candidate:

• Flexible working

• A generous annual leave package of 33 days

• 10 learning and development days

Along with a range of other benefits
