Description

We require a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our national team. In this role you’ll use your creative problem solving abilities to help deliver the national FCRM programme and Area objectives. The role provides environmental project management to enable delivery of Environment Agency risk projects and strategies, which meet national and international standards. In addition, you will provide expert advice on environmental and sustainability issues to our internal clients to ensure projects and programmes meet wider Environment Agency objectives and compliance.

The team

National Environmental Assessment and Sustainability (NEAS) works with the Flood and Coastal Risk Management teams to help protect against flooding and minimise the risks caused by any floods that do occur. The work we do directly and in partnership with others ensures our actions reduce flood risk and also provide environmental and social benefits.

Experience/skills required

Educated to degree level, a relevant post-graduate qualification is desirable but not essential.

You'll have excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external partners. We are always looking at good practice from other sectors and so experience in the water industry is not essential, if you have valuable experience to offer. For the senior positions, you will also

• Be able to show where you’ve worked with others to deliver environmental success
• Have experience reviewing statutory environmental statements, and SEAs and co-ordination of statutory EIA
• Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of different technical areas of expertise, such as habitats regulations, planning or environmental design
• Has obtained or be working towards Full or Chartered Membership of your professional institution (e.g. IEMA or CIWEM)

Contact and additional information

There will be regular travel across the region and occasional overnight stays. The base office will be Warrington with significant opportunity to work in and from other offices in the North West.
