An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Suffolk County Council (SCC) Natural Environment Team working jointly with the Norfolk County Council Environment Team as a Nature Recovery Partnership Manager, with the ability to work flexibly from locations across the two counties.

Your role

You will:

* be co-ordinating the development of a 25-year Environment Plan for Norfolk and Suffolk, working alongside a wide range of stakeholders, through the Norfolk and Suffolk Nature Recovery Partnership and as part of a collaboration agreement with the University of East Anglia's (UEA) School of Environmental Sciences

* help to shape, co-ordinate and develop action plans and demonstrator projects focused on the priority objectives identified from the Norfolk and Suffolk Natural Capital Evidence Compendium for the 25-year plan, linking these in with policy and funding mechanisms emerging from government and business to secure investment in the long-term objectives of the plan

* be hosted by Suffolk County Council but will work as part of a wider team across both county council's, the UEA and a range of other partners. As such, you will be able to draw upon a huge pool of knowledge and experience as well as bringing your own skills and ideas to the role.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to be involved in something that will have far-reaching consequences for the natural environment and communities of Norfolk and Suffolk for decades to come.

Your responsibilities will include:

* co-ordinating the development of a 25-year Environment Plan to address the risks and impacts to natural capital and support nature recovery across Norfolk and Suffolk

* facilitating partnership working and engagement with stakeholders in support of the plan and priority actions

* helping develop approaches to monitoring change, the impact of interventions and adjustment of future plans

* supporting the host local authorities in developing links with the local and national Nature Recovery approach and helping to secure funding and actions to deliver this.

The next few years will see significant changes in the policy and economic context for the work you will be involved with, so it is expected that your responsibilities and priorities will need to evolve in response to that.

You will need:

* to demonstrate a good understanding of the terrestrial and / or coastal and marine environment as well as good awareness of the broader social and economic context of Norfolk and Suffolk

* experience of applying a natural capital and ecosystem services approach to real issues

* to be a self-starter, able to work independently with limited supervision, with strong analytical skills

* to be an effective communicator, and have good experience of working with multiple partners / stakeholders towards shared goals.

You will be working as part of a large, multi-disciplinary team across both county councils as well as the wider partnership. You will be working alongside skilled, passionate and committed professionals within a supportive, learning environment.
