Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about red squirrel conservation to join our team. The successful applicant will have experience managing a conservation project, managing and supporting volunteers and knowledge and experience of invasive species management as well as a vision for red squirrel conservation in the region.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an established red squirrel conservation project based in the North Merseyside and West Lancashire red squirrel stronghold.

This is a unique landscape combining large urban areas and woodland of mixed uses. The Red Squirrel Officer will carry out grey squirrel control within this area, liaising with landowners, volunteers and the general public to deliver effective conservation for red squirrels.

We are looking for a confident, proactive and enthusiastic person with good knowledge of wildlife management and conservation as well as a passion for conserving native species and for the work of the Trust. Applicants should be confident in the recording of geographical and ecological information, along with having experience of operating live capture traps and the use of humane dispatch techniques.  Familiarity with the North Merseyside and West Lancashire area would also be an advantage.
