The Outdoor Access Officer is responsible through the Team Leader - Heritage, for the provision of Outdoor Access services to the Council and the community.
The post holder is responsible for ensuring that the Council carries out its duties and responsibilities as required by the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 and the Scottish Outdoor Access Code; coordinating the Council’s role in addressing Core Paths and Outdoor Access issues. The post holder has a role in increasing participation in walking, cycling and horse riding by developing and implementing the Council’s Outdoor Access Strategy and the Shetland Islands Core Paths Plan.
