Natural Environment Officer (Ecosystems and Biodiversity)

Grade 9 (SCP 27- 31) £33,820 - £37,261

Location: Chester

Fixed term for 2 years – Ref: W2406

We are seeking a qualified ecologist, with experience of providing advice on planning applications, developing environmental policy, and supporting other services to deliver their projects with nature in mind.

You join us at an exciting time as our biodiversity programme expands, creating landscape scale habitats on Council and partner land for Biodiversity Net Gain, responding to the Council's Nature Emergency and developing a pipeline of investment opportunities as we lead a Local Nature Recovery Strategy for Cheshire.

You will have excellent communication, problem solving and project management skills to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain assessments and investment. Good botany skills are essential (FISC 3 or above), with working knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain and experience using Defra’s 3.1 metric. Ideally you will hold CIEEM membership, Bat and/or GCN licenses to help supervise surveys and works affecting protected species.

Although this post is fixed term, for 2yrs, it may be extended if funds become available.

The contractual work location for this role is listed above however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
