Responsibilities

  • Member and Client responsibility: work as part of team to manage relationships between Earthworm and assigned member/client companies.;
  • Commercial Management: development of proposals, budgets, work plans and reports for existing and new member/client companies;
  • Business Development: cultivate relationships with prospective members; and deepen relationships with existing members/clients;
  • Project/programme responsibility: ensure delivery of requirements in line with member/client expectations and those of Earthworm. Monitor progress through engagement with field and specialist teams, including regular communications with the member/client;
  • Transparency: promote effective member/client communications through the joint development and execution of communication tools and documents showing progress achieved;
  • Support the development of EF’s activities globally, across all sectors in which EF is present.

The successful candidate will initially be responsible for managing EF’s relationship with a major FMCG in the home and healthcare category and supporting with business development of prospective Member companies. These responsibilities may change over time.

Requirements – Candidate Profile Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years relevant professional working experience working with business clients, ideally in the consumer goods sector;
  • Global supply chain experience from a business development/sales, relationship management, supply chain management, and/or sustainability perspective. Knowledge of natural raw materials and agricultural commodities an advantage;
  • University degree or higher-level qualification in a field related to business management, the environment, sociology/anthropology or international development (or equivalent professional experience);
  • Strong understanding of business supply chains and sourcing issues;
  • High interest in environmental and social responsibility issues;
  • Exemplary relationship management skills, with proven track record of managing and developing existing clients and developing new ones;
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
  • Ability to take complex information and share with varied audiences in a targeted and relevant way to promote understanding and engagement;
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to work with large data sets, synthesise findings and identify key issues and risks. Excellent attention to detail;
  • A natural planner and organiser, able to prioritise and organize own work schedule, with proven project management skills and experience, effectively driving multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Excellent team player, ideally used to working with multidisciplinary and multicultural teams in a matrixed global organisation and adept at fostering cross-boundary collaboration;
  • Experience with managing conflict situations, including having difficult conversations with external or internal team if needed, in a constructive way to achieve the desired outcome;
  • A creative problem solver, able to qualify situations, take informed decisions, and work with relevant stakeholders to overcome complex problems;
  • Comfortable in fast-moving, high-pressure, complex and changing environments;
  • Positive attitude and used to working off own initiative;
  • Willingness to learn and adapt;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Language skills:

  • Fluent English (written & spoken);
  • Other languages an advantage.

Working conditions / Physical effort:

  • Office based in Winchester, UK;
  • Regular travel within the UK;
  • Occasional travel in Europe and to long-haul destinations, such as field sites in SE Asia;
  • Our global operations span many time zones, which means staff may be required to work outside office hours.
